TOGETHER

Students in grades 7–9 from participating schools in the DWELL study can participate in the TOGETHER subproject (Spring 2026).

The goal of TOGETHER is to examine how friends communicate about their problems, including possible problem-solving and coping strategies. Students will participate with one of their friends (who has also agreed to participate). Outside of school hours, the students will be participate in an online video call together (approximately 30 minutes) and be asked to talk to each other about a problem as they normally would.

Youth and their friends will be advised to choose a topic that they are comfortable discussing with a friend, and in front of researchers. They will also be informed that if future plans of criminal or illegal behavior is discussed then it then it may be legally required to report this to the relevant authorities in concordance with Finnish legislation (10 § (24.7.1998/563).
