Diphtheria outbreak in Germany

Our German colleagues (Anja Berger and Andreas Sing) have just published and important paper, where they show how respiratory diphtheria is transmitted to vulnerable individuals, and unfortunately causing death. Their results also show that a person with diphtheria of the skin may infect another person who then might develop respiratory diphtheria which is more serious and can lead to death.
