Diagnostic criteria unharmonised for severe pertussis

A recent review focused on the diagnostic definition of severe pertussis. The terms severe and critical exhibited the most heterogeneous definitions, and no set of criteria was used consistently across studies. This limits comparability across studies and complicates clinical and public health decisions further warranting a need to develop an international consensus definition.
