Research

Researchers from the University of Turku and the wellbeing services county of Southwest Finland are actively collaborating internationally on FinnGen research data. The genetic and health data of five hundred thousand people has been used to find new connections between genetic variants and different diseases. The goal for the next few years is to increase understanding of the development of health and various diseases as a person ages and to find biological bases for previously identified genetic signals. The medical breakthroughs resulting from the research project will ultimately benefit healthcare systems and patients worldwide.
