Our esteemed speaker is Fred Karlsson from University  of Helsinki. The title of his talk will be: Power relations and paradigm clashes in Finland’s universities in the 20th century

Location: Tauno Nurmela lecture hall.

Abstract: The basic data pool is the development of all language-related
subjects in Finland’s universities. Why was the position of UH so dominant
for so long? When, why and how did the new universities break through?
What were the roles of individual innovators, theoretical paradigm shifts
and political actors?
