The project uses advanced sensor technologies, artificial intelligence methods and satellite-free positioning to produces dynamic and predictive maps. In addition, the project develops 3D and augmented reality visualization for vehicle drivers to facilitate the planning and optimization of routes for logging and defense operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project is coordinated by the University of Eastern Finland and includes the University of Turku, Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke), National Land Survey of Finland, BOKU University from Austria, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), and the Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research (NIBIO). Company partners include Ponsse, AFRY Management Consulting, Kelluu, Mets\u00e4avain, Patria, Sitowise, and SolidComp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the University of Turku, the The BiodiLogDef project is participated in by professor Jukka Heikkonen from the Department of Computer Science, professor Toni Laaksonen from the Department of Biology, professor Ilari S\u00e4\u00e4ksj\u00e4rvi from the Department of Biodiversity Sciences, and assistant professor Ville Kankare from the Department of Geography and Geology. The project received over 2.7 million euros in Co-Innovation funding from Business Finland, of which the University of Turku&#8217;s share is 1.02 million euros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project belongs to the Ponsse-Epec FORWARD\u201927 Business Finland Veturi ecosystem.
