JuDiCe carried out qualitative data collection with students: in fall 2022 and 2023, during the research-based course Law and the urban (TLS_0100, for 2024-2027 OT00BE72) at the Faculty of Law, University of Turku (Finland). Law and the urban explores the uneasy relationship between law and different expressions of power as they materialise in (digital) cities. It goes in depth into the topics of how law shapes the design and fruition of urban spaces, and affects individuals’ urban everyday lives; and how the digital influences the emergence of (un)just practices in the urban. The students are asked to write a daily diary, where they reflect on their experiences of the data-doubles (our digital footprint) in the urban spaces.
Similar data collection was also carried out in spring 2024, in the courses Ethics and sustainability in digital service innovation (with the help of Dr. Dimitrios Gkouskos) and User Experience Design for AI (with the help of Dr. Andrea Resmini), during the research visit at the Department of Intelligent Systems and Digital Design, Halmstad University (Sweden).
