Project
The project has two main objectives:
Education
The new trade policy themed course KVS16 Trade policy and international business was lectured first time in autumn semester 2020. The course was developed based on the needs expressed by trade policy experts in Finland from Foreigh ministry and EK. In addition, a multidisciplinary study module Study module in Trade policy and world trade (25 ECTS cr) was established at beginning of academic year 2020-21.
For companies the project aims to organize education through discussion events, seminars, and courses. The project began with a round table discussion event, and has its first seminar on the future of trade policy held 10th November 2020 and organized together with the Confederation of Finnish Industries.
Research
In addition to developing education, Pan-European Institute aims to build research and projects related to trade policy development and trends. In order to understand these developments our aim is to gather a review on academic research on the topic to identify the current state of research and potential further research needs. We also follow the current developments through media, expert interviews, and related reports and think-thanks, to build our education and further projects.
A collection of trade policy related articles was published in May 2020 as special themed edition of Baltic Rim Economies publication (BRE 2/2020). We will also produce an edited book focusing on trade policy development and future.
Our aim is to develop a trade policy related research road map together with trade policy experts in policy, business, associations, and academia.
