Call for papers
We are particularly interested in presentations that explore the conference theme Conversation analysis in an evolving society: communities, expertise and changing interactional practices. You can submit a proposal for a regular oral presentation (20 minutes), a data session (60 minutes) or a shorter presentation such as introduction of a research project or idea for new research (10 minutes). The extended deadline for abstracts is 14 December 2022. Decisions on accepted submissions will be sent by 16 December 2022.
Abstracts should be between 200 and 300 words, excluding references. Abstracts should describe the interactional phenomenon to be studied, the research questions, data, analysis and main (or preliminary) results, as well as their social and scientific relevance. We encourage all authors to reflect on how the presentation relates to the conference theme, but proposals related to any other aspect of interaction research are also welcome. Proposals for a data session should outline the nature of the data and the phenomenon to be scrutinised, as well as related research background. Abstracts for shorter presentations of a research project or idea should follow the guidelines for regular presentations as applicable, but they may also present research hypotheses and aims instead of research results.
Abstracts should be sent by email to ketu2023@utu.fi. Please title your message “Abstract: Your name”. In the message field, include the names of the authors, their affiliation, the presenter(s) and the title of the presentation. Submit the abstract as a separate anonymized text file (docx, rtf, odt), which clearly indicates whether you are proposing a regular oral presentation, a data session or a shorter idea presentation. If your abstract includes a data extract, please attach it as an image. Avoid text formatting features and remove extra line spacing. The abstract book will be compiled by students who are not necessarily experts in multimodal transcription.
