KOHTI Project
The KOHTI Project focuses on developing a new pedagogical model and approach to Finnish language learning for international researchers. The main objective is to create an effective, communication-centred learning model that matches to the growing necessity to integrate international professionals more efficiently into the Finnish society and working life. The project is carried out in close collaboration of the Phonetics and Language, Age & Bilingualism -laboratory (LAB-lab) of the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Centre for Language and Communication Studies (CeLCS) of University of Turku.
Learning Finnish is an investment in wellbeing, inclusion, and the future. The KOHTI Project aims to make learning and using Finnish meaningful, motivating, accessible, and above all, a natural part of the learners’ daily lives. The emphasis of the model is firmly on spoken language and communicative language use. The project brings together a multidisciplinary team of experts from education, research, and working life.
The project is funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
