Strengthening Nursing Leadership and Evidence-Based Practice
This research project, Strengthening Nursing Leadership and Evidence-Based Practice Through Research Collaboration and Education, launched in 2023 by the Department of Nursing Science at the University of Turku in collaboration with the Wellbeing Services County of Southwest Finland (Varha), focuses on strengthening nursing leadership within the bilingual wellbeing services county. The project is funded by the Stiftelsen Eschnerska Frilasarettet. Its aim is to develop a model in which nursing leadership is supported through leadership education, research, and practice.
The project is carried out in close collaboration with frontline nurse managers, ensuring that practical needs and challenges are considered throughout the development process. This partnership between the University of Turku and Varha provides opportunities to link research, education, and healthcare practice in a meaningful way.
During the project, an operating model will be developed that integrates research, education, and practical leadership work into a dynamic and interconnected whole, laying the foundation for stronger nursing leadership and high-quality, evidence-based care.
