AIM

To develop and pilot two intensive doctoral courses on advanced research methods in health sciences/nursing to support academic doctoral education in Finland and China.

CONTENT

  • To identify learning needs for advanced research methods among doctoral students in Finland and China;
  • To develop the curriculum for two intensive courses of advanced research methods for doctoral studies;
  • To implement the intensive courses into practice and evaluate the implementation outcomes; and
  • To develop national and international networks between doctoral education and high quality research collaboration between Finland and China

PILOT COURSES

Pilot course I (DC1): Big Data in Health Services
The aim of the course is to provide in-depth understanding of how bid data can be utilized in health services research (31.8.2017-5.9.2017, Department of Nursing Science, University of Turku). Approximately 50 doctoral students from Finland, China, Hong Kong and other countries participated the course.

Pilot course II (DC2): Developing treatment guidelines
The aim of the course is to provide in-depth understanding of how treatment guidelines are developed (8.3.2017-14.3.2017 Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong, China). Over 20 doctoral students from Finland, China and Hong Kong participated the course.
