Greetings from a data collection trip in Morocco, part 2

Data Collection Greetings from Morocco!

Our reading groups and interviews continue in full swing, organized in collaboration with both local organizations and schools.

In the reading groups, young people take part in creative writing exercises and explore the themes raised by literature, often through poetry. Creative writing provides a space to reflect on their own thoughts and to express the emotions and questions brought up by living in times of polycrisis — including feelings that are sometimes difficult to express verbally.

In addition to Kaiju and Johanna, our research team in Morocco includes Rabiaa Marhouch, who has contributed invaluable work in coordinating data collection. She has done an amazing job in organizing the reading groups. Rabiaa is also helping to translate the creative writing exercises from Arabic into French.

Data collection has been intense, but the conversations have been highly rewarding and inspiring, offering deep insight into young people’s experiences and perspectives amid overlapping crises.
