Satakunta Metaversum for business (SaMBa)
What is the metaverse?
The metaverse refers to the connection between a digitised virtual world and the real world, and is also known as “immersive” virtual reality. It is a digital replica of part of the real world that reacts to real-world inputs. In virtual reality, these inputs are all different types of data.
The metaverse as a whole is an emerging technology trend. It is therefore crucial that companies and universities in the region recognise and anticipate the theme of the metaverse and its potential.
Project objectives
The aim of the Satakunta Metaverse for Business project is to create a shared overview of the metaverse and its potential impacts on companies’ current business operations for universities, the Robocoast cluster, industry, and other companies and organisations interested in RDI activities.
The project identifies use cases in which metaverse-related solutions can be utilised in business. From these, one or two use cases are selected and examined at the concept level. A technological feasibility analysis is performed for these use cases, and their business opportunities are assessed.
Another goal is to strengthen cooperation between TSE Pori and companies regarding studies. This involves cooperation relating to company visits, exercises, project work and theses. This gives companies and other stakeholders the opportunity to familiarise themselves with potential employees and gain fresh perspectives on how to develop their operations. At the same time, students will have the opportunity to learn about the practical challenges of business and how different industries operate.
