Centre for Security Research Finland is an interdisciplinary research centre that promotes and connects multiplicinary diverse forms of security research. It pioneers in this field, specifically focusing on robotics, autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, and advanced information processing. At its core, the centre aims to find solutions for dynamic and complex environments.
Why This Centre Is Significant
The Security Research Centre addresses current and future security challenges comprehensively and proactively. This initiative represents a collaborative effort among all universities in the Turku region and welcomes participation from any research organization working on security and safety solutions in partnership with industry stakeholders.
Our goals
Promote high-level security research by exploring the impacts and opportunities of autonomous systems, generative AI, and advanced data integration in complex societal environments.
Improve situational awareness and decision-making capabilities across sectors and nations in diverse security contexts by utilizing innovative technological solutions and deep understanding of data processing.
Advance a human-centered approach in all security innovation, ensuring that ethical considerations are central to the development and deployment of new technologies and systems.
Foster knowledge exchange and collaboration among policymakers, experts, and stakeholders, transforming research findings into practical applications and policy recommendations.
EU influencing
The Security Research Centre actively contributes to the European Union’s research and innovation strategies and work programmes, particularly in shaping the post-2027 Horizon Europe programme and the European Defence Fund’s security themes, clusters, and partnerships.
