The Finnish Security Research Centre is an open network that domestic higher education institutions conducting significant security-related research can join.
The centre organizes events and collaborates with researchers and research institutions both in Finland and abroad. Its primary goal is to support research cooperation among its members and partners, enabling them to develop their expertise and knowledge.

EU Engagement
The Security Research Centre actively contributes to the European Union’s research and innovation strategies and work programmes, particularly in shaping the post-2027 Horizon Europe programme and the European Defence Fund’s security themes, clusters, and partnerships.
Expert Contributions to Strategies and Roadmaps
Centre experts participate actively in the development of EU research and innovation strategies and roadmaps through involvement in key EU networks such as CERIS, European Commission expert groups, and preparatory workshops.
Expert Contributions to Work Programme Processes
Experts from the Finnish Security Research Centre are actively involved in the preparation of EU research and development work programmes by participating in national programme representation, preparatory workshops, and expert networks.
Building Connections with EU-Level Stakeholders
The centre strengthens its participation in key European networks and develops and maintains partnerships with leading European universities and research institutions, security authorities, industry actors, the European Commission, and other EU institutions.
Foresight and Scenario Work
The centre develops forward-looking insights into security challenges, enabling it to anticipate emerging needs and gaps in EU research programmes and respond agilely by producing timely content for EU strategic initiatives.
