Social policy 60 years

The Department of Social Policy (now a discipline) was established in the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Turku on December 17, 1965. A day earlier, Docent and Doctor of Social Sciences Jouko Siipi had been appointed as the first professor of social policy. Until then, social policy had been taught at the University of Turku as part-time docent-led instruction.

We warmly welcome all alumni, staff, and students of the Department (now discipline) of Social Policy to celebrate our anniversary with a seminar and cocktail reception. The seminar will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 12:00 to 16:00, followed by a cocktail reception from 16:00 to 18:30.

Please be advised that all presentations will be conducted in Finnish.
