I am a molecular ecologist, with extensive experience in identifying biological organisms in practically any system. My current research includes tick-borne pathogen analyses in northern Europe, food web analysis from tropical rain forests to High Arctic, tick and, and diet-microbiome associations in insectivorous predators. My main occupation is University lecturer at the Department of Biology, University of Turku.

Ongoing projects:

  • Insectivorous foob webs and rewiring of interactions
  • Microbes in the predator-prey interactions (PI Kari Kaunisto, University of Turku)
  • Honeybee, honey, and their interactions with the environment (PI Helena Wirta, University of Umeå, Sweden)
  • Does biological mosquito control (Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis; Bti) affect terrestrial food web structure? (PI Frank Johansson, Uppsala University, Sweden)

As a side-job, I run a company Bioname, which is specialised in identifying biological organisms in any sample, offering full-scale turnkey services for universities and other research institutions, companies, and private citizens.
