Maija Lamppu | Doctoral Researcher, M.Sc
I am a doctoral researcher at the Department of Biology, University of Turku. My research focuses on the distribution and the pathogen load of the two tick species (Ixodes ricinus and I. persulcatus) in Finland, with a special focus on Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria. I am currently studying the changes in Bb-sl seroprevalence in Finnish human population during the last 50 years and identifying the associated risk factors for seropositive status.
My research interests include:
- Distribution of ticks and TBPs in Finland
- Citizen science in tick-related research
