Maija Lamppu | PhD, M.Sc
My research focuses on the distribution and the pathogen load of the two tick species (Ixodes ricinus and I. persulcatus) in Finland, with a special focus on Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria. I am currently studying the changes in Bb-sl seroprevalence in Finnish human population during the last 50 years and identifying the associated risk factors for seropositive status.
My research interests include:
- Distribution of ticks and TBPs in Finland
- Citizen science in tick-related research
