Theophilus Alale | Doctoral Researcher
I am a doctoral researcher at the Department of Biology, University of Turku. My doctoral research encompasses the population genetics of ticks and tick-borne pathogens. I employ various genomics and bioinformatic tools to investigate species differentiations at the genomic level and population-wide diversities occurring in both vector host and their potential pathogen.
My research interests are in but not limited to:
- Interspecies hybridization between tick vectors and its impact on pathogen-carrying capacity in hybrid individuals and populations
- Phylogeographic origins of non-native tick species and genetic diversity among populations
- Tick-borne pathogen identification and classification using molecular and bioinformatic tools
