The citizen research panel has started working

The University of Turku’s new citizen research panel has been successfully launched. Nearly 150 citizens have already joined, and the first collaborations with researchers from different fields are underway. New members are still welcome – join us in advancing research together!

The citizen research panel was established this year to bring citizens and researchers together and to strengthen the citizen perspective in research.

Over the summer and autumn, almost 150 volunteers have completed the online orientation and signed up for the panel. The panel is open to everyone aged 15 or older living in Southwest Finland or Satakunta who is interested in science and research.

Researchers from across disciplines can invite panel members to collaborate on a variety of tasks. These may include exploring the scope of research questions, shaping survey questionnaires, preparing participant materials (also with ethical review in mind), or communicating research to the general public. The first panel tasks have been diverse, and citizens have shown strong interest by actively signing up for all of them.

The project team provides support for both researchers and panel members in making the most of the panel. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions! tiedekuuluukaikille@utu.fi
