How is democracy in Finland doing? How well does the state ruled by law succeed in protecting the human rights of minorities? What impacts do the rising populism and anti-refugee attitudes have on the work of authorities? Does Finland meet the obligations of the convention on the rights of the child and the refugee convention? Have we lost humanity and compassion?
The panelists will discuss anti-refugee attitudes and discrimination in today’s Finland. The panelists include Ahmad Hosseini, Refugee of the Year 2018, Minna Saunders, Project Manager, All Women’s House, Eveliina Lyytinen, Postdoctoral Researcher (Academy of Finland) at the Migration Institute of Finland, and Stephen Phillips, Doctoral Candidate in International Human Rights Law, Åbo Akademi University. Jan Sundberg, Professor Emeritus of Political Science at the University of Helsinki, will conduct the discussion.
The discussion is conducted in English.
Other presentations are held in Finnish or Swedish. At the stands, you can discuss with the researchers also in English.
