New collaboration: “North-South: Polish at the edges of Europe”
TUCEMEMS collaborates with the new project “North-South: Polish at the edges of Europe” directed by Ewa Cybulska-Bohuszewicz.
“North-South: Polish at the edges of Europe” project involves universities and research institutes from Poland, Sweden, Finland and Turkey. Its purpose is to provide a kind of “bridge” between the two ends of Europe (as in the title of the project). One of the ideas of the project is cultural transfer, understood here as the circulation of certain cultural patterns, but also various inspirations present in material culture (art, including applied art). We trace places common to – seemingly extreme places in Europe, but also show the differences between these areas. One of the places where the patterns of East and West meet is Poland, which is a kind of medium between the world of the South and the North. This is due not only to its geographic location, but also to the country’s history and rich Jagiellonian heritage, which also influenced the culture of the northern part of our continent.
