Interviews with delegates at EMRIP 2025
At the 18th session of the UN Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (EMRIP), held in Geneva in July 2025, WHISOL collected new insights into Indigenous and non-Indigenous perspectives on solidarity. Postdoctoral Researcher Alice Baroni took part in both the main assembly and preparatory meetings, interviewing delegates about the possibilities and challenges of white and non-Indigenous support for the demands of Native North Americans. Volunteering with the Indigenous Peoples’ Centre for Documentation, Research, and Information (DOCIP) also offered a glimpse into how such support takes shape in practice, adding both depth to the project’s research and a small, concrete contribution to advocacy work.
