New publication: Validation of the CAIDE dementia risk score

The second manuscript of our PhD student Elina Pietilä: “Enhancing dementia prediction: A 19-year validation of the CAIDE risk score with insulin resistance and APOE𝜀4 integration in a population-based cohort”, has been published in on The Journal of Prevention of Alzheimer’s Diseasessa (JPAD). The study showed that the CAIDE dementia risk score seems to perform well in predicting the 19-year risk of developing dementia in the Finnish adult population (the Health 2000 Study). (AUC ROC 0.78 (95% CI 0.76-0.79). We also showed that HOMA-IR, a measure on insulin resistance, performed equally well as BMI as part of the CAIDE risk score, when BMI was replaced with HOMA-IR.
