Arriving in Turku

The easiest way to reach Turku is by train or bus from Helsinki. Trains traffic once in an hour from Helsinki Central Railway Station, and buses go almost non-stop from Kamppi Bus Terminal. The tickets can be bought online. If coming by train, please notice that the trains from Helsinki do not go temporarily to the Turku Central Railway Station due to rail construction work, but stop at the Kupittaa Railway Station. Kupittaa Station is located near to the university campus, and the city center can be reached also by city buses.

Please be advised that our upcoming event coincides with the annual Paavo Nurmi Marathon taking place in the city centre. Expect traffic disturbances and plan your travel accordingly. Consider using alternate routes and allow for extra travel time, especially when traveling to or from the city centre . We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

The University Campus

The campus of the University of Turku is located in the city center and can be reached easily by walking or by city buses.

If you’re planning to reach the University by bus, the two closest bus stops to the University are stops 65 (Yliopisto) and 115 (Yliopisto). Conveniently located just a stone’s throw away from the campus, on Hämeenkatu.

Accommodation

The closest hotels are Holiday Club Caribia and Hotel Scandic Julia . Both are within walking distance from the conference venue: 5-10 minutes to Caribia (away from the city center) and 15-20 minutes to Julia (in the city center). Both of these hotels offer 10% off the price for the participants of our conference. You will get the code for the discount upon registration or by asking through the conference email.

There are, of course, other hotels and hostels in Turku. If you find your accommodation through one of the regular booking sites, any accommodation close to the Market Square (Kauppatori in Finnish) is easily accessible from the campus both by walking and by bus.
