Lassi Suominen defends his PhD thesis about indicator species

Lassi is the freshest PhD holder member of the team! Dr. Suominen defended his thesis titled “Environmental variation, niches of indicator species and forest structure in Amazonia” on the 9 June 2023 at the University of Turku. Professor Jouko Rikkinen (University of Helsinki) acted as the opponent and sparked interesting discussions. Lassi had Hanna Tuomisto and Kalle Ruokolainen as advisors.

Dr. Suominen thesis consisted of five chapters and used data collected by himself in lowland and Andean Amazonia, as well as an extensive dataset accumulated for years by Amazon team members.
