PhD students from INPA, Brazil join the Amazon team for the next 6 months

In September, the Amazons gladly welcomed two PhD students from the National Institute of Amazonian Research (INPA, Manaus). Marcelle São Pedro and Thiago Cavalcante will spend six months in Turku to collaborate with members of the Amazon team.

They presented their projects in the past two Amazon meetings.

Marcelle presented her plans to investigate the relationships between vertical structure and species diversity in central Amazon forests.

Thiago talked about the planned chapters of his thesis, titled “Evolutionary niche dynamics in the Amazonian atelin monkeys: Combining macroecology with conservation strategies.”

The office is full! Many interesting findings to come!
