Foresight and Future Generations in Law-Making (FORGE)

The Foresight and Future Generations in Law-Making (FORGE) project examined the moral, legal, and political status of future generations and sought to clarify the basis of future generations’ rights from the perspective of sustainable development. The project mapped and compared practices for foresight and for taking future generations into account in different countries. On the basis of this mapping, the project aimed to identify international best practices for using foresight knowledge in legislative drafting and, more broadly, for safeguarding the interests and rights of future generations in political decision-making.

Funded by the Finnish Government, the project was carried out in 2022 by the University of Turku and Åbo Akademi.
