The EBUSE project provides new research-based knowledge on the manifestations, risk factors, and consequences of economic abuse at different stages of life: childhood, working age, and old age. The project’s primary objective is to strengthen society’s and individuals’ ability to recognise and address economic abuse.
The EBUSE project examines:
- How economic abuse manifests at different stages of life.
- How service and legal systems respond to the support needs of victims of economic abuse.
- What tools and working methods can be used to identify economic abuse and support its victims.
- How research data on economic abuse can be produced and implemented in services in ways that benefit the legal system.
The three components of the project for developing practices are:
- A manual for social and healthcare professionals
- A multi‑agency cooperation model
- The implementation of research results
The project will produce new, internationally significant knowledge on economic abuse throughout the life course. The project will also develop and examine a multi-agency approach to intimate partner economic abuse, which represents a novel initiative even at the international level.
