Parthenope University of Naples
The “Parthenope” University of Naples is organized into five Departments: Economy, Science and Technology, Law, Engineering, and Motorial Sciences. The number of students enrolled is about 18 000, with a significant increase in the last 5 years. Department of Sciences and Technologies. Scientific Expertise in: (i) Energy, exergy and emergy analyses; (ii) Ecological footprint and material flow accounting; (iii) Environmental impact assessment, LCA and quality assessment; (v) Biorefineries and bioenergies; and (vi) Zero Emission Technologies and Systems.
Sergio Ulgiati

Education in Physics and Physical Chemistry. Professor of Life Cycle Assessment and General Systems Theory. Research experience in energy conversion systems, Energy and Emergy Analysis, Life Cycle Assessment, Sustainability indicators. In most recent years, his research activity expanded to the evaluation of options for zero emission technologies and strategies (ZETS). Large international experience in both research and teaching/dissemination activities. Experience in organization and coordination of international meetings and research projects.
Pier Paolo Franzese

After graduating with honours in Environmental Sciences, he achieved the title of International Ph.D. in “Crop Systems, Forestry and Environmental Science” with label of Doctor Europaeus. Currently, he is Senior Researcher in Ecology and Aggregate Professor of Environmental and Energy Assessment at Parthenope University of Naples, Italy. Over the last ten years, his research and teaching activities have been focused on environmental accounting and assessment, always striving for the application of a system-based and interdisciplinary approach to science and problem solving.
Elvira Buonocore

Elvira Buonocore is a temporary researcher at Parthenope University of Naples, Italy. After graduating with honours in Environmental Sciences in 2009, she achieved the title of PhD in Environment, Resources and Sustainable Development in 2013. Her research is focused on renewable energy sources, bioenergy and energy related issues, energy use in forestry and agriculture, ecosystem services evaluation, emergy accounting and life cycle assessment (LCA).
Gabriella Fiorentino

Education in Environmental Sciences. PhD in “Valorization and Management of Agro-Forestry Resources” (2006). Wide experience in international research projects (DECOIN – Development and Comparison of Sustainability Indicators; SMILE – Synergies in Multi-scale Inter-Linkages of Eco-social systems; FC-HyGuide – LCA Guidance for Fuel Cells and H2 Technologies; MARSS – Material Advanced Recovery Sustainable Systems). Research experience in chemicals’ extraction and characterization, biomass conversion, valorization of agricultural residues, biorefineries and LCA of products and processes.
Salvatore Mellino

Salvatore Mellino is graduated cum laude in Environmental Sciences and then achieved the title of International Ph.D. in Environment, Resources and Sustainable Development. His research is focused on land use planning and management, Geographic Information System, life cycle assessment (LCA), multi-criteria environmental assessment, environmental management and certification.
Maddalena Ripa

Maddalena Ripa received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology in 2006 and later in 2008 her Master’s Degree in Biological Sciences (with honors) from University “Federico II” of Naples, Italy. She earned the Ph.D. title in “Environment, Resources and Sustainable Development” at the Department of Sciences and Technologies of Parthenope University of Naples, Italy. Maddalena Ripa’s research activity deals with (i) integrated approaches for environmental sustainability assessment and (ii) their application to bioconversions processes and waste management.
Silvio Viglia

Editorial assistant of the international Journal of Environmental Assessment and Management. His research interests are in Emergy Synthesis, Energy Analysis, Life Cycle Assessment and other environmental assessment methods.
