Physical activity increases during retirement transition
Follow-up study among public sector workers suggests that transition to statutory retirement is associated with a transient increase in moderate level physical activity, which is not maintained after entering to the post-retirement period. It was also found that increase in physical activity was greatest among those retiring at older ages, from higher status occupations, and with fewer chronic diseases.
