UTU Global South Network goes to avanto!

Welcome to try icy winter swimming and the warmth of sauna with us!

A small group of us started going to “avanto” once a month in the autumn 2022. As it proved to be an excellent, slightly extreme way to unwind after a work day and get to know one’s colleagues and the Finnish nature, we decided to continue the habit in 2024. Whether you are already part of the network, interested in joining it*, or want to meet new colleagues and test winter swimming, you are welcome to come along! *If winter swimming is not for you, join our other events and mailing list!

Next ice/winter swimming:

  • Friday 22 March 2024, Uittamo
    • We will meet at 16.18 at Kauppatori C2 bus stop and take the bus (number 13) at 16.22

Some tips for ice swimming:
  • Listen to your own body. Do not go ice swimming if you are feeling ill.
  • Do not go alone into the sea, do not walk too quickly from sauna to the sea
  • The first time you try ice swimming stay in water only for a quick dip. It is also ok just to dip your feet, we will not judge!
  • If you have long hair, bring a hair band
  • Please note that the pier and walkways can be slippery
  • Listen to your body!
