CoE for Human Diversity Through Contacts in Turun Sanomat

Turun Sanomat has published an article on the Centre of Excellence for Human Diversity Through Contacts at the University of Turku. The article highlights the importance of this long-term funding for the study of how contacts and mobility have shaped biological and cultural diversity — and how these processes will continue to influence future generations. It also notes the extensive historical, genetic, and linguistic datasets of the Human Diversity consortium and its use of new technologies such as AI. The funding of the Human Diversity consortium includes two major grants of the Research Council of Finland, both led by Professor Virpi Lummaa: Evolution through Contact and Communication Networks (2023–2028, HuDi, Profi7) and Human Diversity Through Contacts (2026–2033, HuDi‑Con, Centre of Excellence).
