Päivi Onkamo as a keynote speaker at the Bioinformatics Day

Professor Päivi Onkamo from Human Diversity gave a keynote speech at Bioinformatics Day on 29 May 2026 in Espoo. Bioinformatics Day is Finland’s largest free bioinformatics conference, organized by the Finnish Society for Bioinformatics. The title of the talk was “Ancient DNA studies: Bioinformatics of the Past.”

Päivi Onkamo is a Professor of Evolutionary Genomics in the Department of Biology and a co-PI in both the UTU Profilation Profi7 and the Centre of Excellence in Human Diversity through Contacts. Her areas of expertise include population genomics, human archeogenetics, and computational genetics, with a focus on gene mapping.
