Virpi Lummaa gave a keynote speech at the EvoDemoS11 conference

Virpi Lummaa, gave a keynote speech at the 11th International Conference of the Evolutionary Demography Society (EvoDemoS11) on 16 June 2026 at Colorado State University.  The title of the talk was “Evolutionary demography of kinship and kin networks across 300 years of Finnish demographic transition”.

Virpi Lummaa is a professor of ecology and evolutionary biology at the University of Turku, and the director of Human Diversity consortium and of the LummaaLab research group. Her research focuses on, for example, ageing, lifespan, kinship, and natural selection in contemporary human populations as well as on the life history and social behaviour of Asian elephants.
