The Häme Regional Fund of the Finnish Cultural Foundation (Suomen Kulttuurirahasto) awarded on May 13 to Associate Professor Outi Vesakoski for her internationally significant research, interdisciplinary approach, and contributions to society.
Vesakoski leads the BEDLAN research team at the University of Turku, studying the linguistic past of humans in Uralic-speaking areas and in Finland. She has been recognized for her interdisciplinary research combining linguistics, genetics, and cultural studies in studying the human past. In addition to her academic achievements, Vesakoski is also active in science communication and public engagement. This will be celebrated with the whole BEDLAN at a summer party in the Häme countryside, Vesakoski promises.
