Seminar: Growth, Collaboration and Impact – The Incredible Years in Finland and Around the World
Date: Tuesday, 8 September 2026, 12:30–15:45
Venue: Medisiina D, Lauren 2 Lecture Hall (Kiinamyllynkatu 10 D, Turku, Finland)
The Research Centre for Child Psychiatry at the University of Turku is pleased to host a seminar bringing together researchers, practitioners and programme users to explore the background, evidence base and international development of the The Incredible Years programme family.
The Incredible Years is a suite of evidence-based group programmes designed to support children with behavioural and conduct problems, their families, and the social, health and education professionals who work with them. The programmes have been developed, researched and implemented internationally for more than 40 years and have been in use in Finland for over 20 years.
The keynote speaker is Professor Emerita Carolyn Webster-Stratton, internationally recognised as the founder and developer of The Incredible Years programme series. Professor Webster-Stratton will deliver two keynote presentations.
In her first presentation, she will reflect on the origins, development and research foundation of The Incredible Years, while also sharing her personal journey as the programme’s developer. The presentation will examine the programme’s international dissemination and its impact across different countries and settings.
In her second presentation, Professor Webster-Stratton will introduce the latest additions to The Incredible Years programme series and the evidence supporting these newer interventions. She will also discuss adapting the programmes for diverse populations, the role of teachers in promoting children’s well-being, and future directions for research and programme development.
The seminar will take place at the Lauren 2 Lecture Hall in Medisiina D, Turku (Kiinamyllynkatu 10 D), from 12:30 to 15:45. The seminar language is English. It is also possible to participate remotely via an online connection.
