Conversation Research Days
Welcome to the annual Conversation Research Days, which will be organised in Turku on 3-4 February 2023. The conference brings together communication and interaction research around the theme of Conversation Analysis, communities and expertise. The presentations use CA to explore social practices of communities and expertise in an evolving society.
The theme is linked to current societal changes such as digitalisation, the changing media landscape and linguistic and cultural diversity in different kinds of communities. Crises such as COVID-19, labour shortages and the unstable global situation also affect interactional practices and the ways in which communities are organised. Expertise is always situated in specific communities, which present their own contingencies for interactional practices.
Our keynote speaker is Niina Lilja, Professor of Professional Communication at the University of Tampere, Finland. Regular presentations will represent a range of academic disciplines and are often interdisciplinary in nature. The Conversation Analysis Days will be held on the campuses of Åbo Akademi and the University of Turku.
