Voluntary Rescue Services educates Pikkunorssi staff

Little girl named Peppi, 3 years, was announced to be missing in a dark and cold December morning. Fortunately, this was a drill, carried out by Volunteer Rescue Services with the kindergarten Pikkunorssi staff.

Luckily, Peppi was found asleep under a kindergarten playroom bench and the both managers and the staff could breathe a sigh of relief.

The Voluntary Rescue Service (Vapaaehtoinen pelastuspalvelu) is a network of 53 organizations whose emergency teams support the authorities when incidents occur. In most cases, the service is called in to search for a missing person.

This time, two Vapepa volunteers had prepared a scenario for carrying out a missing child procedure inside the kindergarten building.

If Peppi hadn´t been found, the staff would have called emergency number 112 to get external help from the rescue authorities. This time that was not needed. The Pikkunorssi staff hopes that every kindergarten would carry out missing children scenario.
