Arriving in Turku
By Plane
Turku Airport is located about 8 km from the city center. A direct local bus (Route 1, heading toward the Harbour) connects the airport with the Market Square, the heart of Turku’s public transport network.
By Train
If you’re traveling to Turku from Helsinki by train, you can book your tickets via VR (Finnish Railways). Trains depart from Helsinki Central Railway Station every hour or every other hour.
If you’re arriving at Helsinki Airport (Helsinki-Vantaa), take a commuter train (lines I or P) to Pasila Station, where you can transfer to a long-distance train to Turku.
Please note that tickets are not sold onboard—you’ll need to purchase them in advance, either from a ticket vending machine or, preferably, online.
Turku has three train stations: Kupittaa, Turku Central (Logomo), and Turku Harbour. We recommend checking in advance which station is closest to your accommodation or venue. All stations are well connected by local public transport.
By Bus
Buses to Turku depart either from the Kamppi Bus Station (ground floor level) in central Helsinki or directly from Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, usually from platforms 13, 15, or 17. You’ll find clear signage in the arrivals area.
There are both direct express buses and services with one transfer. If your journey includes a transfer, the bus driver can guide you to the connection.
To check schedules and book your tickets, visit the Matkahuolto website.
In Turku, buses stop at several central locations, including the Cathedral, Bus Station, and the Harbour. All are connected to the city’s public transport network. If you’re unsure which stop to choose when booking, selecting “Turku” as your destination.
By Ferry
Daily ferry connections are available between Stockholm and Turku, operated by Viking Line and Tallink Silja Line.
Turku Harbour is located about 3 km from the city center. Bus 1 (direction: Airport) offers a direct connection from the harbor to the Market Square.
Getting Around
You can use the QR code that will be sent to you to hop on Turku’s local buses. For routes and schedules, visit the Föli journey planner on their website or download the Föli app to your phone for easy access on the go.
By Bike
Turku’s city bikes—known locally as Fölläri bikes—can be rented using the Donkey Republic app, available for download on your smartphone. You’ll find the locations of bike stations through the Föli journey planner as well.
