Leadership in social and health care

The role of leadership is increasingly essential in improving the quality and effectiveness of health and social care services for people, including clients, patients, and employees. Effective leadership not only emphasizes a people-centered approach but also takes into account societal changes and emerging needs. It is driven by the continuous development of structures, services, and working practices, and contributes to the creation of health and social care systems that are ethically, economically, and socially sustainable.

The aim of the research programme is to strengthen the effectiveness of leadership at different levels of health and social care. The research areas of this emerging programme include, among others, the promotion and leadership of employee health, workplace well-being, and healthy work environments; the leadership of evidence-based practice implementation; and data-driven management. To enhance comprehensive understanding, the programme employs innovative qualitative and quantitative research methods, including participatory and experimental approaches as well as longitudinal study designs.
