Plant carbon metabolism research group

Plant carbon metabolism research group is led by Academy Researcher Moona Rahikainen and resides at the Kupittaa campus of the University of Turku, Finland. Our research explores the inherent flexibility of plants’ carbon metabolism and employs genetic engineering to enhance plants’ ability to utilize variable carbon and energy substrates for growth. This research advances the development of novel plant production technologies and contributes to resilient and sustainable food system. Our research is supported by the Research Council of Finland.
