New project on developing FICAN West cancer research network launched

Turku School of Economics and FICAN West have jointly launched a two-year project titled Transdisciplinary mentoring as a mechanism in the development of networked research collaboration. The project is financed by the Finnish Work Environment Fund. As part of the project, a mentoring program will be created for FICAN West to develop regional research cooperation in the field of cancer research both at the network level and at the individual level. The aim of the mentoring program is to create support for learning at work and strengthen well-being at work. The core of the mentoring program comes from the transdisciplinary nature the pairs where other comes from the clinical and the other from the basic research group. Here the aim is to get tacit knowledge distributed and used, develop research work practices and make different work cultures familiar. Translational research that crosses disciplinary, organizational and professional boundaries is challenging, but a prerequisite for making new treatments available to patients faster and more uniformly.

The application for researchers from FICAN West research groups opens on Monday 12 December 2022.
