University of Turku
The 3rd edition of the Workshop and School on Reaction Systems will take place at the University of Turku, Finland, consistently ranked in the top 1% in the world. The University of Turku celebrates its 100th year anniversary in 2020. The location of the event is the Quantum building (T7 in the campus map, grid G5), in the heart of the university campus, within walking distance to the city centre and to the Student Village, also conveniently located for public transportation. Bikes are also available for rent and very popular in the city.
Turku
Turku, located in the Southwest Finland, is the oldest city in Finland, having been founded in 1229. Turku is compact in size, perfect for exploring the exciting mixture of old and new. In June visitors can enjoy many outdoor cafes and lively restaurants, as well as experience 20 hours of daylight per day!

The workshop and school will take place in the Quantum building of the University of Turku, in room XVII on the second floor (1.6, 3-5.6), and in room M3 on the third floor (2.6).
Arriving at the venue
When approaching the venue on foot from the direction of Hämeenkatu, the simplest route to the venue is up the hill using the stairs located on that side of the University Hill. When coming from the direction of the Turku Cathedral, you can take the stairs through the Koskenniemi park to get to the venue. Each of these routes is indicated on the enclosed map as a dashed line.
When travelling by car, use the following route: Hämeenkatu-Rehtorinpellonkatu-Vesilinnankatu (indicated as a solid line on the enclosed map). Due to the ongoing demolition project at the University Hill, this is the only route to the con venue by car. This is also an accessible route to the University Hill.
Public transportation
University Hill lies within easy reach of public transport. From the city centre, you can take a bus to Hämeenkatu, a road that runs right past the university. If you arrive by train, the walk from the Kupittaa Railway Station to the university takes approximately 10 minutes. Some of the Onnibus routes departing from Helsinki stop at the University of Turku stop on Hämeenkatu, and the final destination (Turku bus station) is not far away.
Various bus routes run from the Market Square to the University’s bus stop. These include for example routes 2, 50, 51, 53, 54, 55 ja 56, and you can find their timetables and fares online. The buses of the public transport service provider Föli are easily recognisable from their bright yellow colour. The ticket can be bought from the driver, it costs 3 eur, and is valid for 2 hours on any Föli bus.
City bikes, scooters
We highly recommend that you use the new Turku city bikes throughout your stay in Turku. The closest city bike station to the University is at the junction of Hämeenkatu and Rehtorinpellonkatu.
E-scooters are also available throughout the city from two different providers. The scooters can be located, rented and paid for through their own apps: https://www.voiscooters.com/fi/ and https://www.tier.app/help/.
