Travel To Turku

Source: Visit Turku

By plane

There are direct flights from Helsinki (Finnair), Stockholm (SAS), Riga (AirBaltic), Gdansk (WizzAir). A common option is to fly to Helsinki-Vantaa airport and then take a train or a bus from the airport to Turku (see below.) The bus number 1 connects the Turku airport with the market square (Finnish: kauppatori) and the port, the ticket price 3€ is paid to the driver. A taxi to the city center costs approximately 30 €.

By train

There are trains from Helsinki (also from the Helsinki airport) almost every hour, see VR’s pages for more information.

By bus

There are two main bus companies (Matkahuolto and  OnniBus) with connections to Turku. Matkahuolto operates a line from Helsinki-Vantaa airport, OnniBus only from the Helsinki city center. For the line from the Helsinki-Vantaa airport, there is a bus transfer in Espoo. You should not be worried about it — the buses wait for each other, everybody switches bus, and the drivers help with the bag transfer. The bus tickets can be purchased from the driver but online prices are slightly cheaper.

By ferry

Turku is also accessible by ferry from Stockholm which sails through the beautiful archipelago. More information can be found at at Viking Line and Tallink Silja pages.
