Analysis and Control of Nonlinear Dynamical Systems
We had the pleasure of hosting Prof. Aline de Paula from the University of Brasília at our monthly Smart Systems group meeting today. She delivered an insightful talk titled “Analysis and control of nonlinear dynamical systems in mechanical applications.”
Prof. Aline de Paula shared her expertise on nonlinear systems, diving into chaos control and the use of metamaterials in mechanical applications such as rotary systems and wind turbines. Her work underscores the importance of accurate modeling and control strategies in complex engineering systems.
Grateful for this inspiring collaboration and knowledge exchange!
Prof. Aline de Paula holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Brasília. Her research focuses on nonlinear dynamics, chaos, control, and smart structures. Applications of particular interest include the use of shape memory alloys, piezoelectric materials, and metamaterials for energy harvesting and vibration control.
