Smart Systems at Shaking Up Tech
The Smart Systems team proudly participated in the Shaking Up Tech event held this week at the University of Turku. This inspiring initiative seeks to encourage young women to pursue careers in technology, engineering, and other STEM fields.
Kandice Barros Ribeiro, Kimmo Paldanius, and Gabriel Lima from Smart Systems presented the demo ‘Coding Robots from Scratch,’ which gave participants the opportunity to explore the world of robotics by programming robots with beginner-friendly coding techniques. This hands-on experience was crafted to make robotics accessible, engaging, and enjoyable while inspiring curiosity about how technology shapes our world.
What is Shaking Up Tech?
Shaking Up Tech is a collaborative event hosted by Finnish universities, including the University of Turku, to promote diversity and inclusion in technology-related fields by empowering high school girls to consider a future in STEM.
Coding robots from scratch
In Coding robots from scratch, participants learn about fundamental coding concepts like variables and control structures using a block-based programming language. They explore the foundational principles of sensors and actuators. By applying these acquired concepts, participants gain the skills to design and implement basic codes for mobile robots.
