DemoDay 2025

Last week, at our lab in Tierankatu, we hosted two engaging demos, “Coding Robots from Scratch,” as part of DemoDay 2025. The demos were presented by Dr. Kandice S. B. Ribeiro and Kimmo Paldanius, both from the Smart Systems Lab.

These demos offered students from local schools valuable hands-on experience in programming robotic systems, highlighting the practical foundations that drive innovation in smart systems.

Coding robots from scratch

In Coding robots from scratch, participants learn about fundamental coding concepts like variables and control structures using a block-based programming language. They explore the foundational principles of sensors and actuators. By applying these acquired concepts, participants gain the skills to design and implement basic codes for mobile robots.
